CEI Band Plays At Fèt Drapo In Paillant

Haitian Flag Day is an important National Holiday, commemorating the first Haitian Flag in 1803. Dessalines and other leaders of the slave revolt created a new flag to carry when they marched on Port-au-Prince on May 18, 1803. They removed the white fabric from the French Colonizers red, white and blue flat. The blue in their new Haitian Flag represented blacks and mixed-race people. Red symbolized the blood that was shed.

CEI’s Music Program was honored to be selected as the band for this year’s celebration in Paillant.
